About · Abilities · Permissions
about;
Arriving to the fishing village of Crockett Island after their elderly monsignor falls ill, Father Paul Hill casts aside their doubts. Revitalizing the community with messages of humility and establishing a local AA chapter, he offers complete acceptance to town pariahs Riley Flynn and Joe Collie, establishing a much needed rapport. In a shocking turn shortly after, Paul performs a miracle in curing young Leeza's paralysis. As other members of the community begin to experience their own blessings, Crockett falls into a religious frenzy.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Paul is revealed to be their missing Monsignor John Pruitt. Healed from his suffering by a winged Nosferatu-esque vampire he misidentifies as an angel, he has been passing on the creature's blood to the community through Communion. This has aged many of them slowly backwards, healed the sick, and in a tragic instance, unmade a fetus. Dying after his miracles seem to drain him, John rises again more completely as a vampire. Accidentally murdering Joe Collie for blood and assisting the angel in turning Riley Flynn, he becomes convinced this is the Biblical destiny of Crockett. Opposed by Riley and a doubtful few, he arranges for the reveal of the angel and the mass suicide (and thus turning) of the congregants. Chaos breaks out as a de-aged friend of his youth, Mildred Gunning, puts a bullet in his head.

The turned congregants attack the remainder, resulting in a slaughter that carries through the streets of the town. Now despairing and helpless to stop them, John confesses to Mildred his true intentions— to save her and the daughter of their affair from the ravages of death, having regretted decades of a life spent without them. With their daughter becoming a hero casualty of the bloodshed, John decries the angel and willingly greets the sun with Mildred.
abilities;
As a human, his biology is completely normal. As a vampire, he burns quickly in the sunlight, sees and hears blood under the skin, heals from wounds within minutes to hours, and has enhanced eyesight (resulting in a sort of reflective cat-eye appearance in the dark). A bullet to the head does not seem sufficient to kill them, but destroying the heart or head would likely work. A vampire seems to detect when one in their coven dies. Increase in physical strength or speed seems minor, though they will use as much force as possible to get to blood, even to injury. There are no fangs, only tearing flesh using human teeth.

The originating 'angel' vampire is also able to perfectly mimic human voices, survive underground for potentially thousands of years, and seems quite strong. A subtle telepathic effect seems to exert itself in communicating with John. It also has a set of bat-like wings and elongated extremities. It's not made clear if it has distinct fangs or sharpened teeth, though the latter seems likely. Upon death, it is implied the effects of its blood on those not fully turned revert.
